Can the cloud defeat Anonymous?

The concept is certainly a sound one, with attack traffic simply being diverted to a 'mitigation site' in the cloud before it can impact upon your business. The diverted traffic is effectively scrubbed through the use of various analytical techniques, the aim being to enable any legitimate traffic to be filtered and sent onto your network. Will the cloud prevent Anonymous, or anyone else for that matter, from launching attacks against those sites they consider fair game? The answer is a big fat no I suspect. DDoS isn't the only attack technology in town, after all. What the cloud can do though, is offer your business some very real and effective protection against this particular attack surface.
