One old woman and a machine full of malware

Just over a year ago an elderly relative of mine decided to join the computer age at long last. To be fair, she had become quite familiar with the things at the library and decided that it would be much more convenient to have one at home as her health was deteriorating and the library was a 10 minute bus ride away. A laptop was sourced from a high street retailer, complete with 'free' pre-installed security software. Indeed, this was something of a deal maker as far as she was concerned as she had become very concerned about being protected from all those 'online dangers' she kept reading about.
