Online shopping sucks elephants through a straw

According to a new survey from Symantec and YouGov, published today, the UK’s online economy is in danger of stagnating if businesses don’t instil more confidence in their customers. Unsurprisingly, transactional security fears are at the heart of the problem. Everything changes, everything remains the same. I can recall writing about consumers being scared of spending money online because of the fear of using a credit card on the Internet, and that was a decade ago. Have we really advanced so little on this journey of getting the message across that consumers still don’t know about the technology that is there to protect them? Have we really juddered to a grinding halt when it comes to ensuring that the online retail sector take investment in security infrastructure seriously enough?
